A new way to race
VOLTA HOUR is a one-hour circuit race with a real finish line. Everyone starts together and completes as many laps as possible. Once the race clock passes 60 minutes, the next time the leader crosses the finish line, the VOLTA Final Lap begins. The bell rings, every runner completes their remaining lap, and the race finishes beneath the VOLTA arch.
- Format
- Individual circuit race
- Race clock
- One hour before the finishing sequence begins
- Objective
- Complete the greatest number of laps
- Winner
- Most laps, then finishing order
No fixed lap target
There is no fixed lap target. Whether you are an elite athlete or entering your first competitive running event, the challenge is the same: complete as many laps as you can before the final finish.
The signature moment
The VOLTA Final Lap
At 55 minutes, everything changes. The lights rise. The music builds. The crowd gets louder. Once the clock passes 60 minutes, the leader's next crossing triggers the Final Lap. The bell rings across the circuit. Every runner has one final push to reach the VOLTA finish line.

Scoring
Most laps wins
Electronic chip timing records every completed lap and each runner's finishing time. The runner who completes the greatest number of laps is ranked first. Where runners complete the same number of laps, the runner who crosses the finish line first takes the higher position.
Lap count takes priority over finishing time. A runner completing 16 laps ranks ahead of a runner completing 15 laps, regardless of their finishing times.

The difference
One hour. One final lap. One finish.
- 01One hour, not a distance you have to survive.
- 02Everybody gets the same challenge, from first-timer to national level.
- 03No lap target, no cut-off and no qualifying time.
- 04Every runner stays in view of the crowd for the whole race.
- 05Live lap counts change the order in front of the people watching.
- 06One bell, one final lap, and everybody finishes in the same place.
- 07A patch you wear instead of a medal you file away.
Your race. Your city. Your patch.
Earn your patch
Complete the hour. Cross the finish line. Earn the official VOLTA city patch. Every event has its own design, creating a collection that records where you raced and what you achieved.
Not a medal. Nothing hangs from a ribbon and nothing goes in a drawer. A patch is made to be worn.
Every official VOLTA patch carries
- VOLTA HOUR branding
- The host city name
- The event year
- A city colour, pattern or symbol unique to that event
- Premium embroidered or woven construction
- A design made to be worn on a jacket, bag or display board
Collect the cities
Every city. A different circuit. A different crowd. A different patch. Build your VOLTA collection one hour at a time.
